Here are a couple of photos of Rick Green's usual mic technique. These were taken on August, 2004.
Rick's description:
"Lately, I've been using two 460's, mounted on a single boom stand. I place the stand at the left of the keyboard, and extend the arm horizontally, just about over the hammers. I put one clip on the end of the boom, and mount another clip on the 'knuckle' where the second section of the boom has its tension screw with the little 'c-clamp' microphone mount. I aim the two microphones about centered in the two sections of strings, angled about 45 degrees off the vertical, away from the keyboard. This gives me a reasonably balanced natural sound, with sufficient isolation from the player's vocal. With some stage setups, I've picked up more drum and cymbol than I wanted, though."
